As in many other countries of the Balkan region, the main alcoholic drink in Albania is raki. This is a generic name for fruit and grape brandies. It is noteworthy that there are no large producers in the country, but this drink is produced by many wine companies. For example, Çobo’s winery has walnut-flavoured raki (you can find this drink by the name Raki më Arra). One of the cognac producers has an interesting grape variation – Adol Raki Rrushi Moskat.
Handicraft (homemade) producers of this drink deserve special attention. The north of the country is famous for its plum raki, where the strength of the drink can reach 60 degrees.
Albania also produces good cognac, in particular Skandenberg. Moreover, this drink, without exaggeration, is considered the pride of the Albanians. The drink is distinguished by its high quality, pleasant taste and aroma. It includes extracts of various mountain herbs, caramel, plums, etc.
From authentic drinks, I can recommend a 40-degree Fernet tincture. It is produced from a special method from different plants. The taste of the drink is both original and specific, but worth a try.
