From the sharp peaks of the Albanian Alps in the north to the idyllic beaches of the South, punctuated by dozens of lush natural parks and centuries-old historic villages, Albania is ripe for hiking. In recent years, hiking and trekking have become increasingly popular, and a real infrastructure is developing nearby, where hiking maps and path signs are becoming more common, as well as supra-regional and transnational mountain trails. However, this is still a developing part of Albania, so we recommend that new tourists take an experienced mountain guide or take part in one of the several organized tours around the country. Albania also has some ancient trails that are great for hiking or hiking.
