Artisanal fishing includes all forms of fishing using fixed and selective gear such as hooks, fixed nets, three-way nets and gill nets. The fishing fleet consists of 581 vessels and is concentrated in the four fishing ports of Saranda, Vlora, Durres Shengjin and in the valley of the Valbona river, the Teti stream, where marble trout is found, and in the upper valley of Vyosa, etc. mainly in five lakes, four of which are large transboundary lakes, Shkodra, Ohrid, and the large and small Prespan lakes.
