The Ionian coast is ideally located in the heart of Europe. In the south of Albania you will find unexpected paradise beaches. With mountains above the sea, untouched nature and crystal clear waters, it is no coincidence that Albania has recently become one of the most popular tourist destinations thanks to its beaches.
There are so many beaches in Albania that it is impossible to list them all, but we have selected 8 of the most beautiful beaches on the Ionian coast of Albania.
Ksamili
Ksamil, known as the Pearl of the Ionian Sea, stands opposite the island of Corfu and a few kilometers from the Greek border. From here you can easily reach Saranda in Rimini, Albania. The Ionian coast is dotted with islands that you can explore by swimming or boating, leaving behind Butrindi National Park, one of the most beautiful archaeological parks in the Balkans and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Karaburun
The landscapes of Karaburun are impressive, as there are many hidden corners. Along the coast around Vlorë, the third largest city in the country, we find the National Marine Park. Don’t miss Gramma Bay, tucked away in the Rocky Mountains. Kalaburun has crystal clear water and many cozy bays with white pebbles.
Dhërmiu
Dhërmiut is one of the most popular and crowded beaches on the Ionit coast in Albania, frequented by tourists attracted by its beautiful and clear blue waters. There were many communist era bunkers scattered throughout the trip.
Borshi
Borsi is the longest beach on the Ionian coast, with three kilometers of coastline, an ideal place for those who want to relax. The beach is surrounded by lush nature, consisting mainly of olive and citrus trees. Those who like walking can take a walk along the coast, which also offers the discovery of Byzantine art, where we can visit the village and castle of the same name.
Himara
The blue and clear sea is a characteristic feature of Himara Beach, which has recently become a very touristic destination. Here you will find mostly small and round bays with a gradual view of the sea. There are also many accommodation facilities. The real gem is the ancient city on top of the hill, where you can admire the ruins of Himara Castle.
Qeparo
In Keparo, the pebbly beach with a layer of sand in the sea is a place to relax as well as rich in history. Walking on foot, we get into the old town between narrow lanes and tenement houses. Of course, to get there you have to walk, where you will see in front of you Jali, a small bay with a coast strewn with white pebbles. Surrounded by bars and restaurants, this is a very touristy and crowded beach.
Gjipe
Gipeia is one of the wildest beaches in Albania and can be reached by a 30-minute walk under the sun and under the red dirt paths of a distance of 1.5 km that goes down the mountains. Clean and emerald-colored water, Hypeja is located between rocks and during the day, thanks to the sunlight, changes color.
Vuno
Vunoi Beach is located between the mountains on the banks of Gipe and Jali and boasts a beautiful village of stone houses. Here it is as if the weather has stopped, nature is unknown, and the territory is uninhabited, so you do not risk not knowing where to open an umbrella from the sun.
