Shkodra is one of the most ancient cities in Albania and one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Balkans. The city has preserved many sights, which tourists from all over the world come to see, and every year their number increases.

One of the main (central) attractions of Shkoder is the Rozafa Fortress. It was built in the third century BC. The fortress is located in a picturesque place, on a hill, and on three sides it is surrounded by water streams.

The religious sights of Shkoder deserve special attention. In particular, with the money of one of the Arabian sheikhs in 1995, the Great Mosque (Abu Bekr Mosque) was built in the central part of the city. Today it is a real decoration of the city, which attracts many tourists and locals.

During the Ottoman rule, from 1851 to 1858, the construction of the Roman Catholic Cathedral of St. Stephen took place in the city, and the construction was carried out with money collected by people. At various times, Teresa and Pope Ivan Paul II and Mother Teresa visited the temple.

Lovers of romance should definitely pay attention to the Ottoman bridge. It is located in a very beautiful place, about 8.5 kilometers from the city, and it was built by the Turks back in 1870.

In the local historical museum, which is located in a beautiful historical building, you can see many interesting exhibits from ancient times to the period of socialism.

Of the natural attractions that Shkodra and its environs are also famous for, be sure to pay attention to Skadar Lake, which is rightfully considered one of the largest and most beautiful not only in Albania, but also in the Balkans as a whole. Numerous islands are located here, different birds live, excellent conditions for water walks and fishing are created.
